Your Smartphone And Your Skin

Lets get gross, as you may or may not of heard that your smartphone can be a breeding ground for all sorts of nasty bacteria. The likes of Streptococcus, Staphylococcus and Corynebacterium. These types of bacteria can cause anything from spots, skin infections to stomach cramps. They can even harbour E Coli due to people bringing their phones into the toilets or not washing their hands after using the toilet and going straight to their phones. Or even touching things in public that hundreds of others full of bacteria have touched – the bacteria has now spread to you and you are touching your phone, then taking a call putting our phone up to your face and voila now the bacteria is now on your face. Even if you have the best skincare routine your phone could be sabotaging it.

So what can you do?
Keep your hands clean, wash them when you come home and at all other obvious times. Keep them sanitised when out and about.
Keep your phone clean too. Use an an ammonia free antibacterial wipe to keep the surface clean. The reason why you should stick to ammonia free wipes is because ammonia can damage the surface of your phone. While you’re at it give leads and cables a clean too as they can get dirty.
Other everyday things to keep clean and try to keep free form bacteria.
Glasses. Make sure you clean them regularly.
Your pillow should be cleaned every few days few and sleeping on your back will help keep your face free from bacteria.
Brushes. Make up brushes, exfoliating brushes and tooth brushes can all harbour bacteria so make sure to clean them regularly.
Earphones. Again your hands are regularly touching your earphones, putting bacteria on them that will go into your ears and can cause ear infections. The best way to clean them is to wipe them with anti bacterial wipes.
Remote Controls. Use a new tooth brush and a anti bacterial wipe to clean them – ideally weekly.
Handbags. Handbags can be brought everywhere and put on every nasty surface and can store bacteria on the outside and inside so make sure to keep them clean weekly.
